02 The money question

How a free site keeps the lights on.

We would rather over-explain this than have you wonder. Combo Chronicle costs nothing to read because advertising pays for it — and we keep that clearly separate from what we recommend.

01

Sponsored placements

Studios can pay to promote a free game, always with a link straight to its Google Play page. Anything paid is labelled as a promotion so you always know what you're looking at.

02

Ad-supported picks

Most of the games we cover are free because they run their own in-app ads. When you install one through us, that discovery can earn us a small, standard referral fee — at no cost to you.

03

Ratings stay independent

Our scores reflect hands-on play, full stop. No studio can buy a higher rating, and advertising never changes the words in a review. The full policy lives in our Terms.

Abstract editorial illustration of layered note cards in paper and dusty-blue tones

In short: the reviews are for readers, the ads are labelled for advertisers, and the two never trade places.

03 Why trust the desk

Small team, real thumbs, plain words.

There is no algorithm ranking these games behind the scenes. A person installs each one, plays it properly, and only then writes it up.

Hand-tested

Every game on the shelf is installed and played, not scraped from a chart. If we couldn't get past the first hour, it doesn't make the cut.

Independent

Advertising pays the bills but never writes the reviews. Scores are decided before money enters the room, and paid promotions are always labelled.

Transparent

We show the real Google Play rating next to our own take, and we tell you plainly how the site earns. No hidden mechanics, no mystery boxes.

Curated

We deliberately skip the chart-toppers you already know. The point is to surface calmer, lesser-known games that deserve a second look.

07 Straight answers

Questions, answered plainly.

Yes — completely. Reading Combo Chronicle costs nothing, and every game we feature is free to download from Google Play. The site is funded by clearly-labelled advertising, not by you.
Two ways: studios can pay for labelled sponsored placements, and we may earn a small standard referral fee when readers install an ad-supported game we recommend. Neither affects our ratings — the full breakdown is in the “How we earn” section and our Terms.
Both, side by side. The star figure on each card is the game's real Google Play rating; our written note is the editorial desk's own hands-on take after playing it.
No. Advertising can buy visibility as a labelled promotion, never a better rating or kinder words. Scores are set from play alone, before any commercial arrangement.
We add your email to an occasional update list and, with your permission, send gentle web-push notifications through our provider OneSignal. You can unsubscribe or turn off notifications whenever you like — details are in our Privacy Policy.

08 Safe by default

Only calm games, only official links.

We keep the shelf gentle on purpose, and we never host downloads ourselves — every install goes through the official Google Play page.

Official store only

Every “Get it on Google Play” button links to the app's genuine store listing — no third-party APKs, no side-loading, ever.

Peaceful genres

We choose puzzles, word games and cozy adventures — relaxing titles suitable for a wide audience, with no violent or high-pressure themes.

Your data, respected

We collect the minimum needed to run the site and only email you if you ask us to. Read exactly what we handle in our Privacy Policy.
