This Privacy Policy explains how Combo Chronicle (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of combochronicle.com, handles personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
1. Who we are
Combo Chronicle is an independent editorial website that reviews free-to-play mobile games available on Google Play. We act as the organisation responsible for the personal information collected through this website. For any privacy question you can reach our privacy contact at [email protected].
2. What personal information we collect
We aim to collect the minimum information needed to operate the site.
Information you give us
- Subscription form: your email address (required), and optionally your name and phone number, together with the consent you provide when you tick the agreement box.
- Correspondence: the content of any message you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Your IP address and approximate region, browser type and user-agent string, device and operating-system details;
- Log data such as pages viewed, referring URLs, dates and times of access;
- Cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy);
- Analytics data about how the site is used, in aggregated or pseudonymous form;
- Advertising identifiers used by advertising partners to measure and serve ads;
- Web-push subscription identifiers, if you choose to enable browser notifications.
3. Why we use it and on what basis
Under PIPEDA we rely primarily on your consent (express or implied, depending on the sensitivity of the information) and on our legitimate need to operate the site. We use personal information to:
- Deliver and secure the website and remember your preferences;
- Send the updates and notifications you have signed up for;
- Measure and improve site performance and content through analytics;
- Display and measure advertising, including labelled sponsored placements;
- Respond to your enquiries and meet legal or regulatory obligations.
You may withdraw your consent at any time (see “Your rights”). Withdrawing consent may limit features such as receiving updates.
4. Web-push notifications & OneSignal
Browser (web-push) notifications are powered by OneSignal, which acts as our service provider (data processor) for this feature. If you submit the subscription form and allow notifications when your browser asks, OneSignal processes a push subscription identifier and limited technical data (such as browser type and, where provided, the email, name and phone you entered, and tags including our domain and the form source) in order to deliver notifications on our behalf.
You can stop notifications at any time by adjusting your browser's site settings or by contacting us to be removed. OneSignal processes this data under its own privacy terms; we ask that it act only on our documented instructions.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers and partners who help us run the site, and only as needed:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and serve the website;
- Analytics providers that help us understand site usage;
- Advertising networks and partners that serve or measure ads;
- OneSignal, for web-push notification delivery;
- Authorities or advisors where required by law, or to protect our rights.
Some providers may process or store data outside Canada (for example in the United States). Where information is transferred across borders, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, and we take reasonable steps to ensure a comparable level of protection.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. Subscription details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs and analytics data are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Subject to PIPEDA and applicable law, you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw your consent and unsubscribe from updates and notifications;
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at priv.gc.ca or by phone at 1-800-282-1376.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incident promptly.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
